Dr. Nissan graduated from a foreign veterinary school in 1990-1991 with a focus in medicine and surgery. Immediately after graduating from veterinary school, he completed a combined residency program in large animal medicine and surgery. He owned and operated two successful mixed large and small animal hospitals through 1996 before coming to the United States.
Upon arrival in United States, Dr. Nissan obtained his certificate of foreign veterinary graduate (ECFVG) in 2000 from Purdue University in Indiana after 2 years of additional studies.
Dr. Nissan has worked in North San Diego County for the past 15 years with his focus in small animal medicine and surgery. He has extensive experience in emergency critical care medicine and was part owner at Animal Urgent Care in Escondido for several years.
During this time, Dr. Nissan pursued and achieved a specialty certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in canine and feline medicine and surgery (DABVP-c/f). The certification requirements are very comprehensive, requiring constant study in new practices and advances in small animal veterinary medicine.
Dr. Nissan's special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery and emergency/critical care medicine. In his spare time (which is seldom) he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and playing soccer.
